JK Rowling: Why is failure good?

JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, gave on June 2008, the year when I graduated a formidable speech about failure.

Before she invented Harry Potter, she was very poor, divorced and she consider herself a failure. But that was good, because being a failure enabled her to see herself for what she really was, strip away all the fears, strip way all the preconceptions and remain only with the essential.

Not all the achievements are good in life, because some of those will deviate you from the path you really belong to.

"Failure meant stripping away the inessential"
